So, Brady and I went out to dinner the other night and had a very interesting conversation. Obviously it was good, because I am now doing something I haven't done in a while, write on our blog. Somehow our conversation moved into the arena of life accomplishments. Brady mentioned that everyday he tries to push himself out of his comfort zone, because when he is old and ready to leave this life he doesn't want to look back at it and have any regrets. And really that is how Brady lives his life. When he finds something he is interested in, he pursues it. Once his need is satisfied, he moves on to something else. (We also discussed this as being a reason why picking a career is so frustrating! - Love ya babe)
I had to laugh at how opposite Brady is to me in this regard. I much prefer to play it safe. Once I find something I like, I stick with it. No need of venturing out into the unknown. I am not a thrill seeker. Yet . . . I don't like regret either. So, Brady is now bound and determined to push me out of my comfort zone everyday. We began discussing what are some of things I would like to accomplish in life, essentially what are my dreams. So, I thought if I could do anything what would that be. Besides having a family, these are the things I came up with:
- Audition for MOTAB
- Write a book
- Get a PhD
- Learn to play the guitar
- Design educationally based websites
- Work in D.C., preferably with the Department of Education
- Become a hobby photographer
When I talked about these things with Brady, I realized that a big reason I had never thought of pursing them is because I feared that I could never really accomplish them. Yet the more I think about it the more I realize that those who can overcome the fear of failure are the ones who do succeed, because they find a way to do it. So, I guess Brady has successfully sucked me into his philosophy of life, granted that is what attracted me to him in the first place. Now I just have to figure out which life goal, I'll start with first. Any suggestions?
