My turn

Since Stasha is so busy with school right now, I thought I would update the blog about our latest adventures.

We are officially residents of Taylorsville (or as our friend Tricia Buck would always tell me, T-Ville). We live in a pleasant little 1 bedroom basement apartment just west of Bangerter Highway. It has plenty of storage space for all of our stuff (mostly mine), washer and dryer hookups, and is internet ready. Those were the main things we were looking for during our apartment hunt. The location is nice because it is only a 15 minute drive for Stasha to go to work everyday. The kitchen is about a fraction of the size of our previous residence, but we have adjusted pretty well.

Living in the big city has been a bigger adjustment for me. I bought a GPS unit the first week because I got tired of getting lost and not knowing where anything is. I haven't ventured too far from the interstate or redwood road, but I am becoming more familiar with everything. I am also fulfilling the role of stay-at-home husband. I clean the house, cook dinner, go buy the groceries, etc. Not gonna lie, that has been a little weird for me. I get a little crazy by Wednesday doing the stay at home thing so I drive up to Lewiston to help on the family farm. Since I know so many of you are interested, we are harvesting corn right now on the farm and preparing the land for planting our crops for next year. Next week is going to be really exciting, we are going to harvest 150 acres of potatoes!!!

Apart from that, I have had some time to read books of my choosing (finally)!! While I was in school I figured I would enjoy reading books that I wanted, but I didn't realize it would be this good! I am concluding the book "The War for Muslim Minds" by Giles Kepel (sorry if I spelled it wrong). Though the book is a little dated (it was published in 2004), Kepel highlights a lot of different elements of the confict that is raging right now, with emphasis placed on Muslims in Europe, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United States in Iraq, etc. I highly recommend it if you are interested in the interactions between the Middle East and the United States.

I started reading "Power, Faith, and Fantasy: America in the Middle East: 1776 to the Present" by Michael B. Oren last night. It provided a timeline of the interactions between the United States and the Middle East. I was not aware of the long history that exists between the two regions.

Anyway, that is all for now.

ha ha ha I'm laughing that you bought a GPS... SLC is a giant grid, it can't be THAT hard to find your way around- then again I guess I did grow up here. How's life in the big city? No more $7 movie nights. Bummer, Gotta love cache valley.

Brady! I can't believe that you bought a GPS unit. That's the classic country boy coming out in you!
